Fantastic job! Utterly fascinating and wonderfully researched.

Michael Cuscuna, the long serving former president of Blue Note Records on Behind the 8 ball: The story of jazz organist Baby Face Willette

Absolutely fascinating. I cannot believe how much history is here. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to research all of it and put it all into one place, in one coherent article.
We should do this every time we buy a historic property!

Just wanted to say that your article made my day. My name is Richie O’Neil and I am the operator of the Poncho Dog stand at the fair. There were several people that had read your article and came looking for our stand to try our new fair food. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed my Cheese Curd Taco creation. I take a lot of pride in every product that goes thru our windows. People like yourself and this article you have wrote is why I love doing what I do. I’m honored to hold your top spot and you could not wipe the smile off my face for a good two hours after I read it.

Mr. Tanzilo – you are quickly becoming a Milwaukee treasure. John Gurda has documented so much of milwaukee’s cultural history. Your column Urban Spelunking builds on his work by bridging our cultural history with our built environment. It amazes me, at times, how quickly our collective memories fade on buildings of prominence both architecturally and culturally. Your efforts to share and preserve these stories (and remind us of their significance) is certainly recognized and appreciated by many. This story was a doozy! Keep ’em coming please. You are changing the way we will collectively see our city for generations.

Hi Bobby. WOW! What a great story! It is amazing! Really amazing! I don’t think I’ve told you this yet, but I once predicted you would be the next John Gurda, only maybe a bit funnier. This proves that point. Some of the initial feedback I’ve heard so far is that they think this is the best article yet about the building and the project (and there have been a few!). They really admired your ability to capture the emotions of the project. In a nutshell, I think that means they liked it too. A LOT! Always such a pleasure working with you!! THANK YOU!!!!!
